Knee Preservation Surgery

Meniscus are the Cushions of knee joint. Meniscus are two in number and because of cushioning effect they prevent knee damage.

Very often during dancing 💃,playing,running even walking down stairs because of sudden twisting injury these meniscus (Cushion) get damaged.
This meniscus injury can cause sudden pain,pop up noise ,locking of knee and delayed swelling .
These all together causes walking difficulty ,pain and discomfort .

These torn meniscus after getting MRI done can be managed by Arthroscopic (minimal invasive) Surgery.
By Arthroscopic Procedures we can do Menisectomy ,Meniscus Repair ,Root fixation and meniscus Transplant Surgeries.

If torn meniscus remain un-diagnosed or not fixed timely and properly can cause permanent knee damage.(Arthritis )

Every knee with pain and swelling does not require knee Replacement surgery .
The most important thing is alignment of knee joint that needs to be taken care prior to any intervention or treatment.
Many times patient comes with knee pain and swelling with MRI finding of Meniscus root Avulsion (cushion tear/avulsion).
In particular this case before going for any arthroscopic meniscus repair first alignment of knee joint should be taken care of. and if there is normal alignment then only Arthroscopic meniscus root repair will be suffice ,but if knee joint alignment is not normal then alignment correction osteotomy /High Tibial Osteotomy(HTO) along with Arthroscopic meniscus root repair is compulsory for desirable outcome.

Early alignment deviation detection and correction with minimal invasive meniscus repair surgery considered as a Knee joint preservation procedure.
After this procedure patient will have their own natural knee.
